Godavari Biorefineries Limited (BSE: 544279 | NSE: GODAVARIB), an integrated biorefinery, has commenced commercial operations at its new 200,000-litre-per-day corn and grain-based distillery at the Sameerwadi unit in Karnataka.
The Rs 1.3 billion facility increases the site’s total ethanol production capacity to 800,000 litres per day, adding 60 million litres of annual capacity.
By integrating grain processing with its existing sugarcane operations, the Sameerwadi facility can switch between raw materials based on seasonal availability. This operational flexibility protects production volumes from feedstock and climate-related disruptions.
It also strengthens Godavari’s ability to meet growing customer demand while increasing its contribution to the Ethanol Blending Programme and the country’s
Samir Somaiya, Chairman and Managing Director, Godavari Biorefineries Limited, said, “India’s energy future will be built from its fields. By introducing a grain-based ecosystem alongside our sugarcane footprint, we are building a truly resilient, circular biorefinery model that draws its strength from the sun, the soil, and the small farmer. Ethanol blending programme targets give India’s biorefinery sector a solid floor, and we shall ensure a reliable and resilient supply chain, one that directly supports the agricultural communities that drive our feedstock network.”
With the commissioning of the distillery, Godavari has strengthened its ability to deliver consistently across ethanol, bio-based speciality chemicals and renewable energy using multiple agricultural feedstocks.
