Epigral Limited has approved an investment of approximately Rs 6 billion to enter the epoxy resin and formulations business and establish a Multi-Purpose Plant at its integrated manufacturing complex in Dahej.
The epoxy resin and formulations facility will have a planned production capacity of 125,000 tonnes per annum. Epigral expects to commission both commercial plants in H2 FY28.
The expansion marks the company’s forward integration into the advanced materials and specialty chemicals segment, supported by growing demand from construction, renewable energy, automotive, electronics, infrastructure, marine, aerospace, industrial flooring and semiconductor applications.
Epoxy resin is used in high-performance applications such as wind turbine blades, fibre-reinforced polymers, tile adhesives, industrial coatings, chemical storage systems, electrical insulation, marine structures and automotive components.
Demand for epoxy resin in India continues to grow alongside infrastructure development, manufacturing growth, renewable energy investments and the rising adoption of high-performance materials.
The project will benefit from Epigral’s existing backward integration. Key raw materials required for epoxy resin production, including epichlorohydrin and caustic soda, are already manufactured at the company’s Dahej complex.
More than 50 per cent of the raw material value required for the proposed project will be sourced internally, strengthening operational efficiencies and the company’s backward-integration advantages.
Epigral will also establish a Multi-Purpose Plant to manufacture downstream products from the epichlorohydrin and chlorotoluenes value chains. The facility will address growing domestic demand for pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates and water-treatment chemicals.
As part of its phased development approach, the company is establishing a pilot facility for epoxy resin and formulations and the Multi-Purpose Plant. The pilot facility is expected to become operational by Q2 FY27.
It will help validate product quality, optimise manufacturing processes and facilitate customer approvals before commercial-scale operations begin.
Maulik Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, Epigral Limited, said, “To drive future diversified growth, the Board approved strategic investments in a new epoxy resin and formulations plant and a Multi-Purpose Plant. Both expansions will enhance efficiency within Epigral’s integrated manufacturing complex by utilising internal raw materials.
“Specifically, the epoxy resin plant will consume epichlorohydrin and caustic soda, while the Multi-Purpose Plant will manufacture downstream products from the epichlorohydrin and chlorotoluenes value chains.
“The epoxy resin plant will cater to domestic and global demand across the renewable energy, infrastructure, electronics, automotive and industrial sectors. Concurrently, the Multi-Purpose Plant will meet rising domestic demand for pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediates and water-treatment chemicals.
“These investments reflect Epigral’s ongoing commitment to building an integrated manufacturing platform and diversifying its portfolio to deliver long-term stakeholder value,” Patel added.
The investment announcement follows Epigral’s Q1 FY27 financial results. The company reported a 25 per cent increase in profit after tax to Rs 990 million, compared with Rs 790 million in Q1 FY26. Revenue rose 15 per cent to Rs 7.09 billion from Rs 6.15 billion in the corresponding quarter last year.
The company also reported an EBITDA margin of 25 per cent during the quarter despite geopolitical tensions in West Asia, fluctuations in raw material and finished goods prices, elevated freight costs and shipment delays.
